After reading a number of blogs on the topic of book trailers and how authors can do-it-themselves, I decided to try my hand at the task. I happen to be a do-it-yourself type of person anyway - for many things in life. Creating a video was something I've wanted to attempt, but felt a little timid in embarking on the venture. Part of the hesitation for me was the technical uncertainty. I wasn't born naturally tech-savvy, so I procrastinated and teetered on the idea for some time. Lately, it has seemed as if relevant articles and information have bombarded me. The time came, ripe, to actually do something about it. Now, I wonder why I hadn't experimented sooner.
There are a variety of tools and avenues to choose from when creating a video. I chose Windows Movie Maker, because that's what I already had access to, it happens to be free, and with minimal glitches I created a video for my upcoming romantic fantasy within a few hours. I utilized free photos/images (you have to be careful, certain about the licensing!), and although there are free options for music, I did pay for the beautiful soundtrack I selected - but it cost me only a few dollars for unlimited use.
Here's what came to fruition:
You know, if I can do it anyone can. Besides, it was fun!
